This project has helped develop an understanding of the processes involved in the design and publication of a book. This project highlights the roles of different stakeholders like the author, the editor, the design, production, sales and marketing teams involved in taking design decisions. This project has given me an opportunity to understand how the content, the context and the audience influence the design brief, which ultimately dictates the visual language of the book.
The design requirements for this project revolved around three distinct tasks, designing and illustrating the cover, illustrating the inside pages and typesetting the book.
About the Author
Meghaa Aggarwal is the author of many children’s books such as ‘A home of our own’ and ‘The green guide to Environmental Courses and Careers’. She combines her passion for education, environment and children, in this book to unearth never-before told facts about India’s environmental journey for children to read. On the occasion of World Environment Day this year, the book will bring forth stories of many unsung heroes, fun facts and much more, for all the budding nature enthusiasts in a humorous and comical package.
This is the third book by Meghaa Gupta, who, other than being an avid environmentalist and passionate children’s book author, she is deeply interested in exploring how young people relate to the natural world. Through this book, she aims to bring forth the untold history of India’s environment to young readers so that they may change the status quo when they grow up.

Approved Cover
After many rounds of feedback and troubleshooting, this was approved as the front cover. Each element on the cover is symbolic of a chapter inside the book.
We see a tiger in the jungle, space junk floating in the sky, a factory emitting smoke, windmills, a cow, power transmission towers, the Taj Mahal becoming yellow and toppling and an elephant slipping into the pit that is being dug by a man. The man is trying to find answers by digging up 'facts' and the cliff is in the shape of the outline map of India.
